That’s right, I saw a Straman CRX in the wild! It looked nearly identical to the one pictured above, but unfortunately no SR20. Pretty cool to see one out cruising and not in a show setting, particularly this close to winter in northern Illinois. Although with snow scheduled to drop this weekend, I’m hoping they were taking it for one last cruise before parking it in a nice warm garage, safe from snow and salt.
It was so weird seeing the rear end of a CRX with an actual trunk deck and soft top though.

I ended up behind one before I knew what it was. i think they look pretty cute with the top up but very odd with it down.

When I saw it coming toward me, driving in the opposite lane, I first though it was an EF hatch with the roof painted black. But as we got closer the fabric material became more apparent and the body dimensions definitely seemed off. I did about a quadruple take as we passed and it was in my side/rear view, hoping to drink in every moment of it while not becoming incredibly well-acquainted with the rear end of the Passat in front of me.
